Globanet Email Migrator (GEM)

Globanet Email Migrator (GEM) is a software application that allows users to migrate data from a variety of information sources into - or within - Symantec Enterprise Vault (EV).
Many organizations are unhappy with their legacy archiving platforms, but their concerns about potential loss of data integrity during a migration keep them from abandoning their existing solution for Symantec's industry-leading Enterprise Vault. GEM eliminates those risks by enabling administrators to migrate data while maintaining chain of custody. In addition, GEM enhances Enterprise Vault's existing functionality for companies already using Enterprise Vault.
KEY FEATURES
General
- Cryptographic hashing during migrations ensures chain of custody (integrity of messages is maintained)
- Dynamically reassign retention categories based on various criteria including age
- Proprietary hardware systems (e.g. Centera) can be retired and/or seamlessly upgraded to newer versions
- Rich reporting
Benefits for Organizations Migrating to Enterprise Vault GEM is currently capable of migrating data from the following data types and archiving platforms:
- EML files
- DXL (Domino XML Language) files
- MSG files
- Iron Mountain Email Management
- Zantaz Digital Safe
- GFI MailArchiver

- AXS-One (for DXL file migration)
- Tumbleweed Communications
- EMC (Legato) EmailXtender
Benefits for Organizations Already Using Enterprise Vault
- Entire journal archive(s) can be moved from server to server within a given site or between completely separate sites (relocations, corporate mergers, corporate splits)
- Messages archived prior to EV 8's OSIS (Optimized Single Instance Storage) model can be reprocessed, allowing this state-of-the-art storage architecture to significantly reduce storage both retroactively and on a go-forward basis
- Small footprint agent to control GEM-to-GEM traffic facilitates secure migration through firewalls and across domains
- Enterprise Vault API calls are performed on local EV servers, not across WAN links
